Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village hosted its annual End of Summer Festival on Saturday, August 20, where attendees enjoyed bounce houses, water slides, games, food and more.
The event was organized by Alderman Robert Holden with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Holden said the return of these events is welcome after the pandemic.

“My staff and I have enjoyed sponsoring so many outdoor family events this summer, especially after what we’ve been through with the pandemic,” Holden said. “We’ve had concerts by Rolling Stones, Beatles, Disney and 80s cover bands, movies under the stars and more. This end of summer festival was a great way to end the season. And now we’re planning our fall events and can’t wait to see our neighbors too!”

Holden also sponsored a rain barrel giveaway in the park earlier in the morning. The draw was in association with the New York Department of Environmental Protection.
Rain barrels capture water from a roof and hold it for later use, such as on lawns, gardens or houseplants. Collecting roof runoff in rain barrels reduces the amount of water that runs off your property. It’s a great way to save water and it’s free water to use in your landscape.
