A car show, a scarecrow walk, a pride festival and events to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month are just some of the family-friendly activities happening this weekend in Utah.
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a festival from 14 to 22 ha Vineyard Grove Park. Live music, folk performances, traditional crafts, local vendors and traditional food will be at the festival for attendees to enjoy!
With a theme of “Power in Visibility,” the Pride of Southern Utah is hosting a Pride Festival Saturday in St. george Events take place from 3pm to 10pm at Townsquare Park.
“Italian Vacation”
Strolling down historic Rio Grande Street from 100 S to the Olympic Fountain Square, celebrate the culture and traditions of Italy with this popular festival, back for its seventh year. Proceeds from the event benefit local charities. The festivities are held on Saturday, September 17, from noon to 10 p.m
Neighborhood-focused family fun celebrating the neighborhood. Pets are welcome for this celebration with music, activities, art, food and more. Stop by 10am to 6pm on 900 South and 900 East in Salt Lake City
Utah’s largest VW and Porsche show will take place on Saturday, September 17th at Riverton City Park on the lawn. If you’re not into cars, there will also be raffles, food trucks, vendors and a swap meet.
Scarecrow walk (video above)
Created by the Utah State University Botanical Center, local businesses, residents and organizations come together to display scarecrows of all shapes, sizes and colors. The event is free and will take place until September 18 at the Vaga Arboretum. Open from dawn to dusk every day.
Arts, Parks and the Skies of Utah
Explore the skies of Utah and admire three new art installations in Salt Lake County with an all-day celebration of family fun. Make your own solar telescope, sundial, origami and tin constellation lantern, and more! Three stops around the valley allow participants to connect with nature and enjoy the fall weather. Taylorsville Recreation Center from 10am to noon, Pleasant Green Park from 1pm to 3pm and Yellow Fork Canyon Trailhead from 4pm to 6pm.
Pride, Not Prejudice: An LGBTQIA+ Conference for Utah Educators, Students, and Caregivers
Utah Pride Center is hosting a special conference for Utah educators, students and caregivers to provide them with the resources they need to support LGBTQIA+ students. It happens from 8:30am to 5:00pm at Clayton Middle School.
Dedication of the Memorial Monument to the Families of the Golden Star in Sandy
A Gold Star Family Memorial will be dedicated Saturday, honoring the families of servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives while serving in the military. The public is encouraged to attend this event organized at Sandy Town Hall at 11 am
Event celebrating 25 years of Bikers Against Child Abuse
BACA celebrates 25 years of advocacy with an event at Orem City Center Park. Food trucks, live music, biker games, children’s activities, prize drawings and more will make this a fun time for the whole family. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m
Take a historic ride with “Preserve Midway,” a non-profit dedicated to conserving the land and highlighting rural preservation efforts. Walking options include the 5K, Historic Mile, or 10K. If you don’t feel like walking, stop by Midway Town Square from 10am to 2pm for lunch, bounce houses, games, live music and more. Walk check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17.
International Coastal Cleanup on the Great Salt Lake
Volunteers will remove trash along the south shore of the Great Salt Lake to improve water quality and restore wildlife habitats. Local environmental organizations will also be on hand to answer questions about the Great Salt Lake. From 9 a.m. to noon, registration is required.
Fair of the Carmelites
Support the Carmelite Monastery in their annual fundraiser on Sunday, September 18. There will be a 5K race, handmade items for sale made by the nuns, silent and live auctions, children’s games, artisanal sweets and ethnic cuisine. Proceeds from the event support 12 women religious who are dedicated to a life or a prayer.
