Cassidy Sigala and her sister-in-law, Alayina Baca, were stay-at-home moms and realized that indoor playgrounds and trampoline parks weren’t designed for toddlers.
“I noticed that for the younger kids, when they jump on the bigger bounce houses, they always get stepped on by the older kids,” Baca said.
This led Baca to solve an idea she had had for some time: an indoor playground for babies and toddlers to play and interact with their mothers. Talking to her sister-in-law helped make it happen
“I invested and I wanted to contribute something to this in a rural community where there are not many places where the little ones can go to play,” said owner Sigala.
The couple’s new indoor playground, Jump and Play, opened Aug. 22 at 1200 Dexter St. at Fort Lupton.
Sigala said before they opened the indoor playground, they were delivering bounce houses for soft play parties. Now, however, they knew they would need a permanent location.
Jump and Play will be open all year round so parents can bring their kids and have fun. They charge $12 per child and $7 for adults for a full day. They also sell socks as the children playing are not allowed to wear shoes on the premises.
They have three games rooms. One is a soft playroom, aimed at children up to two years old. It has soft play material, Montessori equipment and a small jumper for the little ones.
“Our other room, the kids call it the city,” Sigala said
The city is an imaginative playroom where children can choose a costume to play dress-up. It’s geared toward adult role-playing, featuring a miniature house with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, doctor’s office, and grocery store.
The third room is a private area for nursing mothers and babies. The spacious rooms feature puzzles, blackboards, books, a slide, a climbing wall, a bouncy pit and a giant bounce house.
In the same way, the rest of the installation is aimed at a smaller clientele. The bathrooms are equipped with changing facilities and diaper genies.
“We helped each other with ideas and little details, our bathrooms have stools, so the kids can wash their hands, and they have smaller toilet seats to train the younger kids,” Baca said.
As it grows, Jump and Play will continue to make changes, Sigala said. They plan to hold private birthday events and will schedule an entire day for these events due to capacity. They also plan to hold yoga classes and watch the kids in the playrooms while the moms have some time to themselves.
“We’re planning some fall events with music, food and drinks on Sept. 24 and we’ll have a Halloween party,” Sigala said.
