Autumn street fair scheduled for Saturday

The Leadership McMinnville Class of 2022 invites the community to attend the 27th annual Fall Street Fair, scheduled for this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition to craft, food and information booths, several Main Street and other local businesses will be participating with booths and shopping specials throughout the day.

“We don’t want to forget our Main Street businesses during this event. They are the real MVPs of the Fall Street Fair because they make room for the event to take place and thrive. In addition to spending time visiting the ASF booths on the streets, we want to encourage attendees to check out the downtown shops and restaurants to get a full feel of what our community has to offer,” says Committee Chair of ASF, Jackie Borowiak.

Just one of the many activities offered at the street fair will be a double-elimination corn hole tournament, presented by Crisp Springs Fireworks. The registration fee is $30 per team of two and will take place in the lot at 10am with registration beginning at 9am. There will be cash prizes for the winners.

There’s also something for pet lovers. A costume contest for pets will begin at 1 p.m., also in the Lot. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, funniest costume, best group theme (humans included), best pet trick and best show. Admission is $10 per pet.

While live music has traditionally been an important part of the street fair, this year local restaurants will be participating in the entertainment. As part of Leadership’s ongoing partnership with Main Street businesses, entertainers have been paired with Main Street restaurants. The Begonias patio will be the scene of a performance by the Barren Fork Band at 11:30 a.m., while singer-songwriters Izzy and Blake will play at the Collins River BBQ & Cafe at 3 p.m.

There will be plenty to keep the kids entertained. The Once Upon a Fairy Tale puppet theater will have several performances in the Lot between 9am and 2pm. In addition, there will be a family fun zone hosted by Homeland Community Bank and Crisp Springs Market with bounce houses and other activities.

Three non-profit organizations will benefit from the funds raised during the event.

“The Fall Street Fair is a wonderful community event that brings together people from all over the community and region. But the most important part of the event is the fact that all proceeds go to support local nonprofit organizations lucre selected by each class,” says Leadership Chair Ashley Gillentine Wright. “This year, the event is slated to have its most successful fundraising year yet, so our class chose to support several organizations with these funds and we are very proud to have this opportunity.”

Children’s Advocacy Center, Warren County Emergency Food Bank and Warren Arts to receive Leadership donations after the Fall Fair.
