KERMIT – The town of Kermit has rescheduled its fall festival after a rainy weekend. The new date of the event will be Saturday, October 8.
There will be a car show in the City Hall/Old Kermit Gym parking lot starting at 6pm on Friday, October 7th.
The main part of the events will take place on Saturday, October 8. Vendors will begin setting up in Kermit Park at 10:30am. Sellers will be able to participate for free on a first-come, first-served basis. Vendors must provide their own tables and tents.
Councilor Hawkey Preece will organize a parade. The line-up will begin at 11am on Saturday, October 8, with the parade starting promptly at 11:30am. The parade will include pageant winners, local sports teams and other organizations.
The festival will open to the public at noon. There will be attractions for children, including a mechanical bull, a bounce house and a climbing wall. The mechanical bull, climbing wall and euro bungee will be available until 4pm, while the bounce houses will be available until 6pm.
ABLE Families’ Parents as Teachers program will sponsor “Cows Can’t Jump, Roll and Read” from noon to 4 pm at a booth located in the back of the park. Kermit K-8 Cheerleaders will sponsor a stocking stand. Smith Academy of Salon Professionals will offer free face painting as well as tinsel and braiding for a fee.
Other activities will include a pet show at 1 p.m. and a corn hole tournament at 5:30 p.m.
John David Messer, along with Misty Williams and Friends, will kick off the live music at 2:30 p.m. The concert will include songs from Messer’s new album, “Coming Back Someday.” Local band Hammer Down will perform from 5pm
