HOBOKEN, NJ – On the first Tuesday in August each year, police departments across the country encourage residents to talk to neighbors and get to know their local police to show criminals that they are on the lookout for crime. Some even organize an activity fair.
The Hoboken event often lasts longer than most, with games, police demonstrations, food and bounce houses around Church Square Park in downtown Hoboken.
This coming Tuesday, August 2, the Hoboken Police Department is hosting its 2022 National Night Out from 5 to 9 p.m.
National Night is described as “an annual community-building campaign that promotes
police-community associations and neighborhood camaraderie”.

All members of the Hoboken community are invited to National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2nd from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Church Square Park at Fourth and Garden Streets.
The community event, hosted by the Hoboken Police Department and the Stevens Campus Police Department, is part of an annual national community-building campaign known as “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” which promotes partnerships between police- community
This year’s event will feature a great lineup of family-friendly activities, including a Jaws of Life demonstration by the Hoboken Fire Department, water slides, bounce houses, miniature golf, music, free giveaways, a sensory tent for cool- yes and much more.
Gringos Tacos, Tastebuds and Nigel’s Hotdogs will also be serving free food.
In addition to the participation of different police forces, several local businesses will come out in full support of the night against crime.
The National Night Out event is celebrated by more than 38 million participants and more than 16,000 communities across the United States.

Movements of the farmer’s market
The farmer’s market that takes place on Tuesdays in the Church Square Park will still be located, but it will be on the other side of the park.
According to Facebook“Hoboken Police will be occupying our regular Church Square Park Farmers Market space. We will be moving to the Willow Ave side of Church Square Park between 4th and 5th Streets. SEE YOU THERE!”
