Summer vacation is coming to an end in a couple of weeks, and parents know what that means: rushing to get everything ready for the school year. We have created a practical guide to prepare for the first day of school.
Calendars of the school year
fresh, Allen, plan, Blue Ridge, Celina, Farmersville i McKinney Independent school districts will begin the school year for students on Wednesday, August 10 Wylie ISD classes will begin a day later on Thursday, August 11. Lovejoy ISD on the 15th, Anna ISD on the 17th, i Melissa ISD on the 23rd.
But even before classes start, there are a few dates to mark your calendar. Blue Ridge ISD has set up a meet the teachers event on Thursday, August 4th that parents won’t want to miss, while Celina ISD parents should save Monday, August 8th to meet the teachers. Anna ISD opens its Crossing of the Coyote school registration event for new and returning students July 25-28 online or on the 27th and 28th in person.
Preparing all students
North Texas nonprofits are hosting events to help families get everything they need before the first day of school.
Plan ISD’s Back to School Fair takes place on July 25th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Plano Event Center. There, students and their families will find helpful information and resources, job fair opportunities, as well as on-site school registration and enrollment, backpacks with supplies and safe food for families in need.
Just before the first week of school, on August 6th, the Plano Art Center will have its own Back to school event at Haggard Park where they will be giving away free school supplies, backpacks, haircuts and family fun. Sign your kids up for a day of bounce, games, food and face painting to say goodbye to summer.
And in Frisco, parents can enroll in the Dymensions Education Back to School Open House event that will take place on July 30, where the community helps give away backpacks and supplies to start the school year. They aim to reach last year’s goal of 200 full backpacks for students returning to school. Help them by donating here.
