Lorain City Schools is gearing up for the school year.
The district will hold its second annual Titan Up back-to-school event on Aug. 10, according to a news release.
The event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m., Aug. 10, at Black River Landing, 421 Black River Lane in downtown Lorain.
This event is the district’s way of welcoming families into another school year in a positive, fun and stimulating way, according to the release.
The most significant part of the event is the gift of school supplies, according to the release.
“This school year, we are committed to giving every student the school supplies they need to start the new school year,” the statement said. “We will distribute bags of school supplies and books during the back-to-school event.
“This is in addition to the planned distributions in each of our buildings during the first week of school. The number of school supplies we will distribute this year could reach tens of thousands of individual items.”
By the end of the first week of school, Lorain City Schools expects to distribute more than 15,000 glue sticks; 20,000 Pencil number 2; 10,000 notebooks; 13,000 dry erase markers; and 7,000 boxes of colored pencils, according to the release.
This event is for the entire Lorain community, the release said.
All are invited to attend.
“We will offer free food, drinks, snacks, games, bounce houses and music, and each school will host an interactive activity for families,” according to the release.
Students in Lorain schools will begin classes on August 17th.
