FALCONER — Christmas in July returns to the village.

The multi-day celebration was first held last year as a way to help Falconer residents get through tough times amid the pandemic. This year, the events will take place from Thursday 21 July to Saturday 23 July.

Christmas in July committee member Renee Tompsett said the events are family oriented.

“Last year was very well received” said Tompsett. “It’s very family oriented. We have some new things this year, including games, bounce houses, a Christmas cookie sale and an animated movie, ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas.’

Tompsett added that there will also be life-size games for kids, such as Yahtzee and Connect 4. The events will be located at Falconer Soccer Field before the movie.

After a successful launch last year, Christmas in July returns to the village of Falconer. The events will begin on Thursday, July 21.

Additional events include a book sale at the library from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and a concert at Davis Park on Thursday, July 21. On Friday, the book sale continues from 9am-5pm, along with a chicken barbecue from 5-6:30. and the screening of the film at 7 p.m

Saturday’s events include a book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a children’s fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a noon parade down Main Street, carriage rides from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. pm, Foodies Food Truck 9:00-15:00, bounce houses 9:00-15:00, Kiwanis Hot Dog Sale, Christmas Cookie Bake Sale hosted by Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a petting zoo from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tompsett said the committee is looking forward to events.

“I’m delighted that it was so well received last year,” said Tompsett. “I’m looking forward to it this year. I’m glad we can have this family and kids event.”

EVENTS OF DUNKIRK

The City of Dunkirk announced a Christmas in July Vendor Market to be held on Saturday, July 9 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Memorial Park, Boardwalk Marketplace and Dunkirk Pier.

The festive community event, sponsored by DFT Communications, is open to the public. There will be shopping with craft/gift vendors, specialty boardwalk/pier merchants, Santa/Mrs. Claus and elves visits at 1pm and 6pm, free horse-drawn carriage rides by Magic Moments Carriage from 2pm to 5pm, free basket winner draw at 5pm and Reindeer Kids Games (ball d ‘snowball dodgeball, water balloon toss and more) with elves Ryan, Scott and Evon from 6 to 8:30 pm with a Nintendo Switch, a Van Buren Drive-In Theater gift card and a certificate from gift from Pizza Village as top prizes. Each child will have a chance to win prizes.

The “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” outdoor movie presented by The Rigby Theater will be shown at dusk

A free vendor shopping map and a secret holiday basket drawing will also be available.
