SFA hosts the 19th Annual Pumpkin Festival
SOMERSWORTH — The Somersworth Festival Association announced it will host its 19th Annual Somersworth Pumpkin Festival on Oct. 8. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Somersworth Square on Main Street. This is a rain or shine event.
There will be pumpkin decorating, scarecrow making, face painting, pumpkin crafts, rides, family and children’s photos, story time, games, delicious food and more (while supplies last). Live entertainment will include Bad Breath Microphone from 10am to 1pm, Sole City Dance from 1.30pm and Tricky Dick’s Magic Show from 2pm. There will also be some great raffle items.
A $10 wristband entitles a child to all activities. Adults are free when accompanying a child. Come in costume and enter a raffle. Food must be purchased separately.

ROCHESTER — The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce will host the 2022 Seacoast Area Job Fair, sponsored by Wentworth Douglass Hospital, on Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center, located at 150 Wakefield St. ., in Rochester.
Whether you’re looking for a job or a career change, the Seacoast Area Job Fair will provide a place where you can meet a variety of companies in a variety of industries and see what job openings are available in the area. For employers, the Sea Area Job Fair gives you the opportunity to meet potential candidates for existing or future job openings. Interview areas may be available if employers wish to interview candidates on site. Various state and educational agencies will also be on hand to discuss programs that can benefit both employers and employees.

Kid’s Culture will host the Fall Festival to benefit End 68 Hours of Hunger
DOVER — Kid’s Culture, a local child care and learning center with locations in Dover, Somersworth and Barrington, is holding a fall festival on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Kid’s Culture, 8 Eastern Avenue, Barrington , to benefit. End 68 hours of starvation. This fun event for all ages will feature live music, a food truck, bounce houses, face painting, cotton candy, games, raffles and more.
Proceeds from the event will go to End 68 Hours of Hunger, a nonprofit public effort to address the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive at school on Friday and free breakfast they receive at school. Monday. One in five children in the US struggles with food insecurity.
The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce announces “A Rock and Roll Christmas” Christmas Parade.
ROCHESTER – The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce announced plans for its annual holiday parade with this year’s theme being “A Rock & Roll Christmas.” Generously sponsored by Service Credit Union, the Rochester Holiday Parade is scheduled for Sunday, December 4, beginning at 3 p.m. The parade will feature a variety of floats, high school bands, marching units, mobile units and equestrian units.
Float participants are encouraged to decorate their entry in accordance with the theme. Floats lined up in the staging area at 1pm will be judged on theme, creativity, craftsmanship and overall appearance with plaques awarded to “Best of Parade, Second Place and Third Place”. New this year will be a “People’s Choice” award, which will be presented after the parade; more details will be available later on the Chamber’s website.
The parade route will begin on Wakefield Street by the triangle at the entrance to Spaulding High School. It will continue south on Wakefield Street, turn right on Union Street, turn left on North Main Street to South Main Street and dissolve in front of Rochester Common.
Thousands of people participate in the Rochester Holiday Parade each year, and thousands more watch the parade as spectators during the parade and via video streaming during the holiday season. All are invited to join in the festive spirit generated by this festive community event. Entries will be accepted until December 1st.

Southeast NH Habitat for Humanity received a $10,000 donation
BOSTON, Mass. – Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern New Hampshire received a $10,000 donation from the Globalaw Foundation at the GLAMM Gala on September 23rd. The gala was held at the John J. Moakley Court House during the closing of Globalaw’s annual meeting. in Boston, which was introduced by Hinckley Allen.
The President of the Globalaw Foundation, Marco Bolognini, said: “We are proud to support Habitat for Humanity. They do a great job. At the Globalaw Foundation we are happy to give our help to those charities that fit to our goals for a better, fairer and more sustainable world.”
SENH Habitat Executive Director Marcie Bergan and Board Member Meg Rotondo attended the event at the invitation of Board Member John Sokul, Jr. Sokul is a partner at Hinckley Allen and a leading real estate attorney in Boston and New Hampshire. John indicated that Hinckley Allen was honored to host the annual meeting of Globalaw, an international network of mid-sized law firms. The 2022 meeting is of particular significance as it is the first time an annual Globalaw meeting has been held since the pandemic.
The group that attended the annual meeting held a fundraiser and the proceeds went to SENH Habitat to help with their current project to build a home for a veteran family. “What a wonderful opportunity to meet so many wonderful people (attorneys from around the world) and to be the recipient of such an extraordinary gift,” shared Bergan. “We are grateful for the welcome we have received and for the generosity of such a distinguished group.”
SENH Habitat and Habitats Around the World partner with corporate and individual donors and volunteers like Hinckley Allen and the Globalaw Foundation to build affordable homes for people in need. “Because Habitat, like Globalaw, is a global organization, I felt it was a great fit for this event and our fundraising efforts. I’m very happy to be a part of such a great, mission-driven organization like Habitat for Humanity.” John went on to say that he would like to thank all his colleagues at Globalaw for their generosity and commitment to making a significant difference in the lives of the less fortunate.
Seacoast Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Portsmouth raises more than $200,000
PORTSMOUTH – More than 800 residents and 160 teams from Portsmouth and surrounding communities participated in this year’s Seacoast Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday, Sept. 25 at The Little Harbor School. Participants raised more than $200,000 for Alzheimer’s Association care, support and research efforts.
“It’s inspiring to see so many members of the community come together to share this special event and take action for all those affected by Alzheimer’s and all other dementias,” said Jim Wessler, CEO of the Association’s chapter of Alzheimer’s of Massachusetts/New Hampshire. “The Walk to End Alzheimer’s plays a critical role in helping to advance research and improve care and support for people living with Alzheimer’s and their families.”
On the day of the walk, participants honored those affected by Alzheimer’s with the moving Garden of Promise ceremony, a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the flowers in the Garden of Promise represent people’s connection to Alzheimer’s: their personal reasons for ending the disease.
The Association maintains momentum and continues to raise critical funds and awareness with a goal of reaching $227,000 by the end of the year. Although Walk Day has passed, people are encouraged to sign up, walk in their own neighborhoods and continue to raise funds. Donations are still being accepted until December 31st.
