READING, MA — Reading’s Fall Street Faire will return this weekend with a full slate of attractions ranging from live entertainment to a vintage car show to booths by individual vendors and community groups.
The fair is scheduled for Sunday 11th September from 12pm to 5pm and covers various locations in and around central Reading. This year’s event will feature more than 100 vendors for guests.
While serving as a day of community celebration, Sunday will also mark the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The reading will be screened before the start of the Fall Fair with an event at 11:45 a.m. on the fair’s Woburn Street stage. Police Chief David Clark and Fire Chief Gregory Burns will observe a moment of silence as part of the ceremony.
The specific programming of the Fall Fair will be offered as follows:
OLD CAR SHOW: Fifty old cars from various eras will be on display. The North Shore Old Car Club is helping to supply cars for the event, with owners available to display their cars. DJ Nick Lamberti will play hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s as guests enjoy the show. The car show will take place in the municipal parking lot on Haven Street, behind CVS and the Reading Cooperative Bank. CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT: The fall fair will feature a cornhole tournament on Haven Street starting at 2 p.m available online before the Fall Fair or in person from 1:00 p.m. on the Sunday before the start of the tournament. The top two ranked teams in the tournament will win cash prizes. The cost to participate is $60 per team. CHILDREN’S CAKE EATING COMPETITIONS: The Fall Faire will host a pair of pie eating contests split into two youth divisions. Seven- to 10-year-olds will compete in a division, while 12- to 14-year-olds will compete separately. Interested contestants should meet at 3:45pm at the Woburn Street Stage on Woburn Street in front of the Venetian Moon Restaurant. Contest winners will receive $100 in gift cards to destinations including Fat Larry’s, Cafe Nero and Whitelam Books. DUNK TANK: A long list of Reading leaders will be pitted against Fall Faire-goers’ scandal tank skills at a charity breakout tank installation on Sunday. Guests can buy opportunities to try to activate the storage tank, or they can pay for an “auto mesh”. INFLATABLE AREAS: There will be two sets of bouncy houses, slides and other attractions set up on the Town Common and Haven Street at Sunday’s Fall Fair.
