It’s America’s birthday weekend, which seemingly couldn’t come at a worse time: Only 38% of respondents say they are “extremely proud” to be American, an all-time low, according to a The Gallup poll came out yesterday.
Still, if you’re looking for ways to celebrate, or just enjoy a show, here are the local fireworks displays to check out, every Monday.
Richmond Annual The free show will start at 6:00 p.m., and fireworks are expected around 9:00 p.m.
There will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence, live music, food vendors and children’s activities. Coolers are welcome; booze and dogs don’t.
Fireworks at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds
The holidays start at 5pm at the free event in Chesterfield, with fireworks at dark.
There will be a DJ and live music, food vendors and children’s activities, including a bounce house. Coolers are welcome but wanted; no alcohol or dogs allowed.
“Red, White and Lights” at Henrico’s Meadow Farm Museum in Crump Park
Henrico celebrates the 4th of July with a laser light show, accompanied by music from the Richmond Symphony. Doors open at 4pm and lasers start at 9.15pm.
There will be live music, food vendors and children’s activities, including bounce houses and face painting. Coolers are welcome, and so are dogs (on a leash); the drink is not.
The Flying Squirrels are in town, as always, and will be putting on a fireworks display right after the 6:35pm game ends. The game is sold out, but if you’re desperate to watch from inside the stadium, don’t worry – there are almost always extra tickets floating around.
