SMITHFIELD – The Smithfield Police Department has partnered with LifeSpring Church to host Faith and Blue Weekend on Saturday, October 8 at Smith-Collins Park, located at 909 East Lee Street. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., citizens can enjoy free pig picking, pumpkin painting, bounce houses, popcorn, cotton candy and more.
National Faith & Blue Weekend was launched to facilitate safer, stronger, fairer and more unified communities by directly enabling local collaborations between law enforcement professionals, residents, businesses and community groups through the connections of local religious organizations.
Central to this initiative is strengthening the connections between law enforcement professionals and the communities they serve through outreach to houses of worship. These connections are built through activities held in neighborhoods across the United States, co-hosted by houses of worship and local law enforcement agencies.
