GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — Packers Family Night always a crowd pleaser and this year is expected to be no less, with two events back to back on Friday night. One in Titletown in the Main Square area and the other across the street at Lambeau Field outside Johnsonville Tailgate Village.
“We have everything from bounce houses to chalk art to live music, interactive mural painting, shaved ice, food and drinks, I mean, there’s a lot,” said Jessica Dickhut, coordinator of ‘Titletown events.
They are hosting what is called “Family Fest” with the YMCA. It’s a free event from 3pm to 7pm to get fans excited for the main event on the field. Parking at Titletown starts at 8am and costs $5.
“The magicians, the balloon twirlers, we’ll have some food trucks on site,” Dickhut said. “The great part about family night is that it really gets the energy going for the season … it’s really great to see all the families and the kids out, you know, starting them young, becoming fans” .
Then cross the street to Lambeau Field.
“We’ve got stuff starting at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon,” said Kandi Goltz, the Packers’ Manager of Game Presentation and Live Events. “Everything opens up on the fan walkway, which is right outside the Johnsonville Tailgate Village, so we’ll have a lot of activities out there. It’s all family-friendly.”
Tickets for the actual Family Night inside Lambeau Field are $10 for each age group. Field gates open at 6pm. Parking is also $5 and starts at 1:30pm.
“We have youth football coming out and we’ll have them on the field around six,” Goltz said. “We have a dance team that will be performing on the field.”
The Packers then take the field at 7:00 p.m. and practice until 9:30 p.m.
“We really treat it like a game,” Goltz said. “So there’s a lot of things that we do in the game that we’ll do, you know, ‘Jump Around,’ ‘Bang the Drum’ . . .”
And it remains after the game for the ever-popular fireworks, laser show and the return of the jerseys at the back, where lucky fans will win jerseys of the players of this practice.
“New this year, we have LED wristbands that you’ll receive as you walk in the door, so you’ll be picked up early. Make sure you have it on and you’re ready to head out at the end of the night with fireworks.”, Goltz said.
All the fun of the traditional event everyone loves, with new twists after two years of COVID-19 restrictions.
