City of Lisbon to celebrate 92nd homecoming weekend with family festivities | Art and entertainment

LISBON — The city of Lisbon will host its 92nd annual fiesta starting Aug. 19 with a weekend of family-friendly events.

Homecoming weekend, which was first held in 1930, will kick off with garage sales throughout the city and a dance at the American Legion from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.

On Saturday, the festivities will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a breakfast at the United Presbyterian Church and continue all day.

“This year we’ve condensed most of what’s going on at the fire camp,” said Krista Larock Wells, a member of the homecoming committee. “We’ll have activities there for the kids like bounce houses, the petting zoo and we rented the train they have at the Seaway Festival.”

Saturday will also feature a 5km race at 8am, a book sale at the Lisbon Hepburn Library from 9am to 3pm, a chicken barbecue at noon, an ice cream social from 5.30pm to 7pm :00, a parade at 4:00 PM and fireworks at dusk.

“We’ll also have food trucks at Fireman’s Field, the Kane Band playing, a mechanical bull, and vendors set up,” said Ms. Larock Wells. “We have quite a few entrants this year, so we’re excited about that.”

There will be garage sales throughout the city on Sunday.

“It’s a great opportunity to get together and see your neighbors,” Larock Wells said. “It’s a nice activity for families to come because we have many different children’s activities.”
