Across the river, in Troy, there is another church that lends a helping hand to students.
The Ágape Church also pledged to do its part this weekend for the students of the community.
The church held its sixth annual backpack and school supply drive on Saturday, giving away food and prizes, including laptops, to students and their families.
The church also set up bounce houses and brought out animals and live characters in costumes for the children.
Minister Anthony Lewis says they want to help as many students as they can.
He tells us that the event seems to get bigger and bigger every year.
