Gosh! Oktoberfest is in full swing and although some the celebrations have already begun, there are plenty of ways to drink over the next few weeks in San Antonio. The two-week party in Germany officially began on Saturday, September 17. for the first time in two years. The annual celebration began over 200 years ago as a royal wedding celebration that became the iconic festival that has spread around the world.

September 23-25
Third annual Oktoberfest kicks off nine days of German beer, food and music at Longtab Brewing Company. The local brewery will serve two festbiers, Bad Tolz and Flint Kaserne, during the celebration. People dressed in dirndls or lederhosen will get a discount.

Bier Garten Riverwalk is celebrating Oktoberfest in style through November 14 with a variety of Texas breweries and seasonal beer specials. This weekend features Alstadt. The celebration will include sing-a-longs, stein holding, alp tapping contests and live German music. The 8th annual celebration features a new event: Oktoberfest party boats. Alstadt Brewmaster Craig Rowan will join an Alstadt beer and food cruise. tickets are online.

Oktoberfest at Artist Brewing will take place on Saturday September 24th and Sunday September 25th and will feature plenty of beer, food and live music. Live music will begin on Saturday at 2pm with YesterBeard and on Sunday at noon with the Tubameister. The brewery also offers a special Oktoberfest dish which feeds two to four people and includes an Oktoberfest pitcher, two complimentary glass cups, large pretzel with grain mustard and basil goat cheese, two Granzins smoked brats, a bacon cheddar brat, onions in grilled, sauerkraut, curry. gravy with potatoes, cucumber salad, traditional German potato salad, pickled items and a 12-ounce Berkshire pork chop.

Parktoberfest takes over Brackenridge Park at Koehler Pavilion, Cypress Pavilion and Pecan Grove on Sunday, September 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. The free event will feature food, beer tastings from local breweries and live performances by the Beethoven Männerchor and Dirty River Jazz Band. Participating breweries include Alamo Beer, Freetail Brewing, Texas Beer Company, Tuff Dog Brewery, Viva Beer and Bexar Brewers.

Fredericksburg The celebration of the 42nd Oktoberfest begins on September 30 and the party continues until October 2. Oktoberfest takes over Marktplatz in the city center and the celebration of the city’s German heritage will include five stages of continuous oompah music, arts, crafts, shopping, a children’s zone, 50 Texas American varieties. and imported beers, Texas Wine Country selections, food and more. tickets are available online.

Beethoven’s Male Chorus Vol celebrate with special Oktoberfest performances October 7-8 and again the following weekend. The organization has been preserved German culture, songs, music and language for over 155 years. There are daily food and beer specials.

Great Oktoberfest at Los Patios Take over on October 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. The low-key, family-friendly celebration will include traditional schnitzel, bratwurst, Swiss fondue, barbecue and mocktails along with German and Czech music, family activities like lawn games, bounce houses and more. The event is free.
