BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Bridgewater State University football team and coaching staff hosted the ninth annual “Road to Kindergarten” on Thursday, August 25 at Swenson Field.
The annual community event, designed for children entering kindergarten at Bridgewater elementary schools, began at 9:00 a.m. with more than 100 kindergartners and 100 soccer players, so like the Bears coaching staff.
The children participated in a number of different activities, including jumping over bags, throwing and kicking the football and practicing their touchdown dances.
After refueling with plenty of water, the kids headed out into the open field for more fun. There were four different stations of activities including duck-duck-goose, red rover and freeze tag, as well as two different bounce houses donated by Busy Bee Jumpers and former BSU football standout. Sal Lango ’06. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time.
A parent of one of the kindergarteners contacted the head coach Joe Verria after the event and said: “The road to the Kindergarten event was amazing! It was very well organized and the children had a great time. The football players were amazing to interact with with each child and guide them through the morning. I was blown away!”
