Time is short, but there are still plenty of opportunities for summer fun.
And today is a great day to support families who need school supplies for the upcoming school year.

Carolina Family Services Sixth Annual Back 2 School Raffle
Donations are needed for Carolina Family Services’ 6th Annual Back 2 School Raffle. The goal is to provide school bags and supplies for 500 local families in need. Drop off donations today. Visit carolinafamily.org or call 864-283-0637.
Roper Mountain Science Center
Laser Days of Summer are at Roper Mountain Science Center. Beat the heat with a music-themed laser show. For more information, visit ropermountain.org.
Summer Adventure is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays through August 6 at the Roper Mountain Science Center. This year’s traveling exhibit, “The Mystery of the Mayan Medallion,” is now open. Look for STEM days on select Fridays and Saturdays during the summer. Admission is $12 each for ages 13 and older, $10 each for ages 3-12 and ages 60 and older. Admission is free for children 2 and older and Roper Mountain members. Walk on the mountain of Paris
A Friday Family Hike is at 10 a.m. Friday through August 5 at Paris Mountain State Park.
Take a nature walk with a ranger or staff interpreter and enter Mountain Creek.
Using one of the park’s nets, search for dragonfly nymphs, salamanders and more.
You need to register. Cost is $5 per person, including adults, plus admission. (If you have a Park Passport, you only pay the cost of the program).

Museum of History of the High Country
Family Fun Day is July 30 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Upcountry History Museum.
Families can enjoy game and craft stations, group story time and more. The program is included with admission.

National Night in Mauldin
Celebrate National Night from 5-9pm on August 2nd at the Mauldin Cultural Centre.
The event includes bounce houses, a dance performance, face painting, free food, appearances by the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and the Greenville Triumph and more.

TCMU-Spartanburg
Countdown to Kindergarten is from 6 to 8 pm on August 5, presented by TCMU-Spartanburg.
This is a free community event for families with 3K, 4K and Kindergarteners to help them prepare for the upcoming school year.
The event will take place on Magnolia Street in downtown Spartanburg.
Community partners will provide resources for children and families. Parents and caregivers can interact with community partners, while kids learn how to pack a lunchbox, see the inside of a school bus and more.

Driving backpacks back to school
Donations are needed for the Bon Secours St. Back to School Backpack Drive. Francis Health System.
Donations benefit students in grades 1-12 at area schools.
Suggested supplies include backpacks, composition books, pens (blue, black, red), three-ring notebooks, colored pencils (24 numbers), dry erase markers, Crayola markers, pencils, colored pencils (12 numbers ).

The Run2Overcome 5K and 10K
The Run2Overcome 5K and 10K, benefiting the Julie Valentine Center, will be held on August 6 in Cleveland Park. The event also includes a children’s fun run.

Auditions for “Charlotte’s Web”
Auditions for “Charlotte’s Web” are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on August 9 or 10 at the Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg.
Auditions only need to audition on one of the two nights and can arrive at any time during the two-hour block.
Students in grades 3-12 may audition. An audition workshop is on August 6.
