Dragon’s Closet will be accepting entries from Friday, October 14th through Friday, November 4th for their annual Angel Tree program.
Recipients will receive items from their wish list as well as a box of food. They must reside in the Gretna Public School District and be an infant through age 19, according to a post by organizer Rachel Eastman on the Dragon’s Closet Facebook group.
Plans for the food box call for pancake mix, syrup, sausage, orange juice, eggs, ham, stuffing, green beans, brown gravy, potatoes, rolls, pumpkin pie, whipped topping, sugar, flour, extract vanilla, baking soda, butter, chocolate chips, microwave popcorn, candy canes, hot cocoa power and mini marshmallows.
Collections will take place on Saturday, December 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. There will also be clothing for participating families.

Driving winter clothes
The next community outreach program will be on Saturday, October 8th from 1-4pm and aims to provide community members with clothing, shoes, winter coats, snow boots, cold weather accessories and snow bibs.
Donations of these items, new or gently used, will be accepted until Saturday, October 1st. Donations can be dropped off on the front porch at 317 Paradise Drive. No appointment is necessary, and the porch is periodically checked for donations. Sizes from infant to adult plus size are requested. All donations stay in the Gretna community.
Spring and summer clothing will also be accepted during this period and will be kept until the appropriate season. Also wanted are new socks and underwear in a package, along with gently used shoes.

The Dragon’s Closet is holding its annual fundraiser on Saturday, November 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gretna High School. Admission is $3 per person, with children 2 and under free.
The Craft Fair and Family Fun Day features over a hundred vendors, free bouncy and bounce houses, a free ornament take-away event, food trucks from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., decorating free cookies, free hot drink bar, free pictures with Santa from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., dinosaur show at 11 a.m., science show at noon, adopt-a-child Christmas wish list and a huge silent auction.
