Maybe the heat and humidity have been keeping you inside lately, and if so, you can’t be blamed.
But it might also be time to get out of the house and brave the elements, as this weekend is packed with events in Newport County that include everything from jazz music to a parade.
And if you’re feeling adventurous enough to venture out of the county, we’ve got an event that will still offer those ocean breezes to keep things cool.
Newport Jazz Festival
The second of the concurrent music festivals at Fort Adams State Park runs Friday through Sunday with acts like Norah Jones, Sons of Kemet, Digable Planets and PJ Morton joining more than 50 performers taking the stage throughout the weekend.

The Newport Show
After a two-year hiatus, the Newport Historical Society announced the return of The Newport Show in person for 2022. The show is a long-running and beloved highlight of the Island’s summer season Aquidneck and is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at a mark. -new location: The Audrain Middletown, 250 West Main Road.
As part of this year’s event, Bruneau and Co. Auctioneers will be on site Saturday for a series of short talks, although guests are asked not to bring items to be appraised at the show. Among the talks will be discussions of horns made during the siege of Boston, a look at pop culture items and how collecting has changed since the start of the pandemic.
The 2022 Newport Show, which benefits the Newport Historical Society and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County, will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A pre-gala party from 18.00 to 21.00 hours on Friday opens the show. Tiverton celebrates
Saturday will be all about Tiverton.
The day begins with a parade at 10 a.m. that begins at the corner of Judson Street and Main Road and ends at 983 Main Road.
Following the parade, there will be an evening event at the Tiverton Public Library and Route 177 Recreation Area. There will also be free hamburgers and hot dogs courtesy of the Tiverton Police, bounce houses, vendors and organized activities by local schools.
There will also be a softball tournament featuring teams made up of local first responder groups, including the highlight of the night, the Battle for the Bay game pitting the Tiverton and Portsmouth Police Departments against each other.

It’s summer and let’s face it, some people like the heat.
For Marilyn Monroe fans, check out the Newport Public Library’s film series about one of the biggest movie stars of the 1950s and 1960s.
Two films remain in the four-film series that takes place on Fridays at 2:30 p.m. This week’s screening is “Niagara,” a story of two couples visiting Niagara Falls when tensions between a wife and her husband reach murderous levels. The series finale screening will include “The Misfits” on August 12.

Blessing of the fleet
The Narragansett Lions Club hosts the annual Blessing of the Fleet, which has grown into a three-day event that takes place throughout Narragansett.
The Blessing begins on Thursday with the festival that will continue until Saturday in Plaça del Memorial, next to the emblematic coastal towers of the city. On Friday, runners will take over the town’s streets during the 10km road race.
The eponymous event takes place on Saturday, when the Blessing of the Fleet in Galilee is celebrated with a parade of decorated commercial and recreational vessels, large and small, as a local clergyman blesses each and every vessel as they pass as spectators along of the wave and animation. they on There is also an optional boat decorating contest, if captains want to participate.
