One of Cedar Rapids’ biggest events of the summer is just around the corner!
The 7th annual Market After Dark is set for Saturday, August 27th from 6:30-11:00pm in downtown Cedar Rapids. The press release says:
“Market After Dark lights up the night with Alliant Energy and brings more than 100 vendors, plus entertainment, special lighted rides, games and more downtown for a free community event in the air free”.
One of the biggest differences between a downtown farmers market and the Market After Dark is that the Market After Dark allows for an open container environment. Customers 21 and older will be able to purchase beer and wine in Market After Dark mugs for $7, and other downtown businesses will also sell alcohol. Non-alcoholic beverages, such as cans of pop and water, will be available for $3, and Millstream soda and floats will be available at Greene Square Park for $4 and $6.
There will be live shows on three stages at this year’s event:
Diamond Empire Band – Main stage at 4th Ave and 5th StThe Country Club – 4th Ave near 2nd StKevin Moore – 2nd avenue and 3rd street
You can also see the “Play Zone” in Greene Square Park.
And, of course, there will be vendors at the Market After Dark. Stops will be installed on 2nd Avenue, 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue between 2nd St and 5th Street. You can see the event map below:
