Gyptober Autumn Festival
The city of Gypsum combines Oktoberfest, Halloween and all things fall at the Gyptober Fall Fest.

Celebrate all things fall at the Gyptober Fall Fest on Saturday at Gypsum’s Lundgren Amphitheater. This fall festival will have an Oktoberfest vibe, so don’t be surprised if you see some people wearing traditional Bavarian clothing, such as lederhosen and dirndls. But don’t be surprised if you see Halloween costumes either. That’s the beauty of the event: all things fall means a mix of outfits.
The Gyptober Fall Fest runs from 2pm to 5pm, rain or shine and we could see some showers in the forecast this weekend, but just bring your umbrella and raincoat just in case. There will be a mix of Oktoberfest events and traditional Halloween events, including a pumpkin decorating contest. Bring your already carved, painted or embellished pumpkin to the event to be judged. There are also other fun contests mixed in throughout the day.

Plan to spend the afternoon at Lundgren Amphitheater and the kids will love the bounce houses, mechanical bull and obstacle course. There will also be an opportunity for children to trick or treat. It’s called trunk or sweets because it’s set up where people decorate their cars and kids go from trunk to trunk, door to door and collect the candy.

Eagle Ranch Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkins, fun and games, costumes and more can be found at the Eagle Ranch Pumpkin Patch on Sunday.

Eagle Ranch will also get into the seasonal spirit with its annual Eagle Ranch Pumpkin Patch at Brush Creek Park and Pavilion. Bring the whole family for fall fun between 10am and 2pm. The event is sponsored by the Eagle Ranch Homeowners Association and the City of Eagle and is organized by Cub Scouts Pack 229. Everyone has been working hard to make this happen. a game day
In addition to picking your pumpkin from the great bounty you’ll find courtesy of the Eagle Ranch Community Gardens, there will be a climbing wall, bouncy houses, games, face painting by Lenka and art projects by Dewey Dabbles. If you’re hungry there will also be hot dogs and a bake sale. Area law enforcement, fire and ambulance will have vehicles on display for kids to get up close to see all the features.

Minturn Hometown Throwdown
Minturn will be filled with live music on several stages this Saturday.

Minturn will showcase some of its favorite local venues and musicians at the third annual Minturn Hometown Throwdown. On Saturday, three different and emblematic stages will host musicians between 1pm and 7pm. Performances will be staggered so you can try and see as many performers as you can at Little Beach Park and Amphitheater, Kirby Cosmo’s BBQ Bar and The Agora.

Also on Saturday at Minturn there will be a ribbon cutting event before the Hometown Throwdown concerts begin. At 12:30 p.m., the public is invited to see the new signage and learn about the digital directory on the municipality’s website, which highlights the area’s businesses and historical sites. The new Minturn center map and directory will be revealed on the high street, opposite Magusto’s. There is also another sign on the south side of town at Minturn Bike Park. Underground Sound: Scare

Speaking of live music, the Vilar Performing Arts Center continues this Sunday with the Underground Sound cycle. Called “Love for the Locals,” the annual fall concerts feature performances from a variety of musical genres at an affordable price, thus bringing locals closer to this world-class venue.
This year there have been six concerts in the cycle and two remain, one this Sunday and the other on Thursday, October 6. Sunday brings Susto to the stage. This indie band from South Carolina has played at festivals like Austin City Limits and the Hangout and opened for The Lumineers, The Head and The Heart and others. You can listen to some of Susto’s songs VilarPAC.org to get a feel for their sound and if you like Jason Isbell, Shakey Graves and Trampled by Turtles, you’ll probably enjoy Susto’s sound. I love the lyrics to the song “Friends, Lovers, Ex-Lovers: Whatever”, no matter what, it sounds like these guys have got your back:

Last days for lift access at Vail Mountain
This weekend marks the end of summer lift access at Vail Mountain. Beaver Creek closed its lift service on Centennial Express (#6) last weekend. This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you have the chance to let the ski lifts do the hard work for you as you effortlessly take to the mountain to see the fall colors.
Gondola One (#1) in Vail Village and Eagle Bahn Gondola (#19) will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Box offices at both locations will be open at 9:00 am. Please note, if you already have your Epic Pass for the 2022-23 season, summer lift access is included with that pass. And if you’re thinking about getting an Epic Pass for the 2022-23 season, get it now before prices go up on October 9th and use your pass this weekend. Individual tickets for the panoramic gondola are priced as follows:
Adult (13+) – $50 Child (5-12) – $32 Senior (65+/Military) – $45 Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult
Enjoy the hiking and biking trails from the top of the mountain and you can always hike or bike up and down in the cable car.
