The Carlos Vieira Foundation hosted a free event for families living with autism on September 4 at Yamato Colony Elementary School in Livingston. More than 1,000 attendees showed up for the Autism Day BBQ and enjoyed free food, games, carnival rides, crafts, bounce houses, a magic show and more.
“This was our first year hosting this event since 2019 and we had a record number of over 1,000 attendees,” said Desiree Ybarra, director of programs and operations for the foundation.
This event is possible thanks to the campaign of the “La carrera per l’autisme” Foundation. This effort helps communities in 21 Central California counties by raising funds, donating to local organizations, raising awareness, hosting community support events and providing grants to families through its program of direct aid subsidies.
Community supporters include Livingston School District, Yamato Colony Elementary School, 51FIFTY, Autism Speaks, First 5- Merced County, Livingston Community Health, Texas Roadhouse, The Main Event, Jeffrey M Carter DDS, Livingston Recreation, Livingston Police Explorers , PFSA, Merced County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, Livingston Fire Department, Livingston High School FFA and Livingston High School Hispanic Youth Leadership Council.
