FORT KNOX, Ky. – Fort Knox celebrated the nation’s 246 years of independence with a Fourth of July celebration, a salute to the nation ceremony and a spectacular fireworks display at Brooks Parade Field here on July 4.
Thousands of Soldiers, families, community members, as well as recently graduated cadets currently at the Cadet Summer Training facility attended the event, which included a variety of food and beverage options, games and music in direct Bounce houses, a paint wall and other activities for children were also available.

“What a wonderful opportunity to bring the community, our Soldiers, [and] citizens together to celebrate Independence Day,” Davis said. “It’s a special day for all of us when we look at where our nation has come from the beginning to now.”
Newly commissioned lieutenants carry the state flags in the order they joined the Union during the salute to the nation ceremony at Fort Knox’s Independence Day celebration on July 4, 2022 .

After their speech, the new lieutenant governors presented flags from each of the 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the five US territories. Newly arrived lieutenants carried the state flags in the order of joining the Union, with a cannon fired after each state’s name was announced.
Prior to the fireworks show, attendees had the opportunity to visit several food trucks and sponsor tables on site, participate in a cornhole tournament and hear live performances by Louisville band Wax Factory.
