Get ready to rock on September 30th and October 1st

WINNSBORO – The big dance – Rock Around the Clock – will take place in downtown Winnsboro the weekend of September 30th and October 1st, and will have it all: lots of new entertainment, music, food, release of axes, a classic car show, great DJ’s and dancing, dancing, dancing.

The Festival starts at 8 pm, Friday night, September 30, with its traditional Street Dance with the band “New Local”.

“We’ll feel a little bit of a drop in the air at that time and that should bring out a big crowd. It’s going to be a great night to come downtown, visit with friends and neighbors and have a good time,” said the Speaker of the House of Fairfield, Gene Stephens. “We have a really good band lined up. I think everyone will enjoy it and dancing is always fun.”

“We have about 30 vendors lined up selling everything from jewelry to crafts, and 10 to 14 food vendors,” Stephens added. “So there should be something for everyone,” he said.

Saturday’s events start at 10am on the clock with live entertainment from local students throughout the morning on the main stage and a great DJ throughout the afternoon.

There will be a large children’s entertainment area with bounce houses, carnival vendors, games, more food vendors, craft vendors, non-sale display tents and souvenir sales.

Luna Trix will be there with stilts and face painting, and for those looking for wilder fun, there will be ax throwing.

The Classic Car Show with DJ Doug Pauley and lots of 50/50 raffles will begin at 11 a.m. at the south end of Congress Street and culminate with the presentation of 40 trophies at 3 p.m.

Wilson Auto and other Fairfield businesses will sponsor the event.
