McCOOL JUNCTION — McCOOL’s annual Mustang Round-up was once again a success. Activities were plentiful for young and old as they celebrated this year’s theme, “Proud Then, Now and Forever.”
The weekend-long festival kicked off on Friday with a car show and wine tasting. Before heading to the football game against Heartland, attendees made their wishes come true at the chicken feed depot at City Hall. The night ended with people dancing under the stars to the music of the band Ain’t Dead Yet.
Saturday’s activities began with a parade where floats decked out in red, white and blue paraded through downtown McCool. After the parade, there were many outdoor activities including a Husker tailgate, bounce houses and dunk room, all held at City Hall. The Clay Real Live Animal Barn was also open for kids who want to meet any furry creatures. In the afternoon, a friendly cornhole competition was held along with a water play time hosted by the McCool Fire Department and a dodgeball tournament. The day ended with community favorites such as the rib feed, the glowing ladder tournament and the children’s movie on the wall showing “Sandlot.”

Sunday’s activities did not disappoint. It was an early morning for community members who went to the pancake supper at the town hall. In the afternoon, there were duck races, a golf cart poker run around town, and pee-wee football against Thayer. The last of the activities was a fish fry with all the arrangements made at the Town Hall and the act of removing flags at sunset.
