Hundreds of children and their families visited Freeman Park on Saturday for West Side Community Day.
The event, sponsored by mind changersit included swimming, bounce houses, food, giveaways of school music supplies and community resource representatives.
“A number of organizations have come together to be a blessing to students and parents as they prepare to return to the classroom in the coming days,” said Pastor Freddie Washington, who helped organize the event.
Washington said she wanted to let residents know that her church, Cornerstone Full Gospel Baptist Church, is available to support parents and their children along with many other community groups.
