Dallas Arboretum
With more than 90,000 pumpkins, the arboretum’s Pumpkin Village is a sight to behold. Pumpkin houses and displays depict children’s classics such as Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Three Little Pigs during Autumn at the Arboretum, which is themed ‘An Autumn Fairy Tale’. Pumpkins and other gourds are available for purchase, and pumpkin-themed events are held throughout the festival. On Wednesdays at 10 a.m., visitors can take a guided tour of the exhibit to learn about the many pumpkin varieties on display. Halloween weekend, October 29-30, will feature trick-or-treating, a petting zoo, a Dress Like a Fairy Tale costume contest, and live music in the garden.

DALLAS FARMERS MARKET
FREE Tour with farmers and vendors selling over 25 varieties of Texas-grown pumpkins. On October 8, the Dallas Farmers Market celebrates Texas Pumpkin Day with live music, pumpkin painting and carving, face painters, stories with the Dallas Public Library and a little train for kids to ride.

HALL PUMPKIN FARM AND BLAÇO LABYRINTH
This family farm in the heart of Grapevine, in operation since the 1920s, has plenty of pumpkins to choose from. There are also farm animals, rides and hay bales. But the 2-acre corn maze is the standout attraction. The tallest stems reach up to 9 feet, and the real challenge comes after dark for those trying to make their way by flashlight. The patch includes displays of pumpkins ready for purchase and photo ops between the scarecrows and the vintage farm tractor.

MUNT FLORES PUMPKIN PARK
Pre-picked pumpkins and other varieties of edible squash are ready for purchase at Double Oak Ranch. Kids can pose for photos with playground art cartoon characters. They can also go through easy-to-navigate hay bale mazes, play on the merry-go-round and ride a pumpkin train. Anyone can hop aboard a trailer full of hay for an old-fashioned hay ride.

Visit the local Lola’s Market, named after Lola the pig, for a home-grown pumpkin experience. Plan your outing on the weekends when there are activities for the kids, such as rides, face painting and pumpkins, and a pallet maze. You will also find local vendors selling their crafts and specialty food products.

Kids can also walk through the hay maze and practice their cowboy and cowgirl screams with Cowboy Tex. Yesterland Farm’s annual fall festival is filled with rides, a corn maze, a candy-shooting cannon, pig races, a pumpkin patch and other farm fun. Visitors will find pumpkins of all shapes and sizes in the Pumpkin Field, a Little Pumpkin House and Animal Town with farm critters. BIG FARM OF ORANGE PUMPKINS
For wide open spaces and fresh country air, head to this family-owned attraction at Preston Trail Farms. The location houses a general store offering feed, hardware, food, vintage toys and gifts. You will find many pumpkins on the vine and you can browse the pumpkin patch as much as you like. Visit critters like goats and sheep in the barn to pet. There is also a hay bale maze, hay ride and weekend farm train rides. The price of admission includes a small pumpkin from the plot, feed for the barn, the ride, a corral and the hay maze.

STORYBOOK RANCH NEW PUMPKIN PATCH
Owned and operated by the nonprofit River Ranch Educational Charities, this pumpkin patch is moving down the road to a new location this year. Activities include carousel pony rides (70-pound limit), bounce houses, a petting zoo, hay bale maze, games and picture stations. Children with paid admission can take home a mini pumpkin.

ENNIS AUTUMN DAZE
The 20th annual Autumn Daze Festival in Ennis will feature a pumpkin patch with more than 16,000 pumpkins of all sizes, including one that weighs 2,000 pounds. Reality TV foodies may recognize some of the famous pumpkin carvers: Disney+ Foodtastic champion Dean Murray and Food Network’s Halloween Wars’ Nancy Baker. A hay maze, cornhole tournament, carnival rides, concessions and live music by Pat Green and Gary P. Nunn are also part of this street festival. The Ennis Pumpkin Patch is now open to early shoppers, and special activities are planned each Saturday (Oct. 8, 15, and 22) leading up to Autumn Daze.
