As the 2022 heat wave looms, a debate in my household is heating up: Should air conditioners be left on all the time?
No fancy pants central air in my house. We’re here doing it with windows.
Back in my day, when my sister and I were kids, we slept in sleeping bags in my parent’s bedroom, where the only air conditioner in the house lived.
Now, we have multiple units in the house and I feel like we leave them on ALL THE TIME.
My wife and I have a difference of opinion. I have no problem turning on the AC when it’s hot outside and there are people in the room.
My wife is of the camp that believes air conditioners should always be on. She justifies it with the logic of: “It costs more to cool a hot room than to keep it cool.”
It kills me to come home from work to an empty house with air conditioners roaring throughout the house. It seems like a waste of energy and money.
When this happens, I close the units, my wife comes home and she is not happy. She will walk away with a sigh, turning on the air conditioners again and complaining about how hot it is.
The same when I get off early in the morning to go to work. It’s usually not that hot at 4 or 5 in the morning. It’s certainly not hot enough to justify having the air conditioners on and cooling a vacuum downstairs.
As of the publication of this article, I have been warned not to touch them. We all know who’s boss.
The best foods to eat when you want to beat the heat
They say “you are what you eat” and in summer this also means that you feel what you eat. So when you want to feel cool on a hot summer day, what you eat can help.
Here are some of the best foods to keep cool when the temperatures rise.
The Epic Cape Cod Bouncy Park does not disappoint
Just a short drive to I-195 is a day of family fun waiting to happen. Cape Cod Inflatable Park has added Wicked Waves Water Park for summer 2022, joining the Lazy River, water inflatables, trapeze facility, ninja warrior obstacle course and arcade already at the park in West Yarmouth.
It’s a fun stay for the whole family that has to be seen to be believed.
