NEW LENOX, IL — The end of summer is coming and the Village of New Lenox will host a final party to mark the occasion with free activities, entertainment and local breweries on site to help provide a fitting toast to the end of the season
The last convocation before the fall is scheduled to run from 2 to 6 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Village Commons, according to information on the Village website.
Local craft breweries Arrowhead Ales, Hailstorm Brewing Company, Hickory Creek Brewing Company and Soundgrowler Brewing Co. they will be on site selling beer. Additionally, The Dock at Inwood will be on site with margaritas for those looking for a non-beer option.
Also part of the event is the return of Friends of the New Lenox Parks’ Empty Bowls fundraiser to help support the New Lenox Township Food Pantry. People can buy a hand-painted bowl and get unlimited soup tastings during the event at local restaurants, according to Amy Maher, recreation and marketing and public relations supervisor for the New Lenox Community Park District.

Bowls can be purchased in advance for $15 following this linkor people can choose to buy a gut with cash for the same amount at the event while supplies last.
To keep the party going, there will be live music in the Performing Arts Pavilion from local bands Junkyard Dawgs from 2pm to 3.30pm, followed by Mistaken Identity from 4pm to 6pm.
There will also be free activities for children, including bounce houses and face painters.
A portion of Veterans Parkway will be closed during the last call before the fall. Limited parking will be available on the street, in the south lot of city hall and in the lots behind the Old Plank Trail Community Bank and Trinity Services. Attendees are asked not to park in the New Lenox Public Library lot.
