Head downtown for the world’s largest social ice cream world record attempt. It’s happening 1 p.m Scoops of ice cream and candy, 5711 Eighth Ave. Scoop’s is trying to set a new world record for the world’s largest ice cream social. Scoop owner Julie Soldenwagner hopes to draw 1,000 people to the downtown ice cream and candy shop. People are asked to register in advance on Scoop’s Facebook page. To enter the “Guinness Book of World Records”, strict rules must be followed: a drone will take heard photos and a notary public must be at hand. As a bonus: the first 1,000 customers available for the world record attempt will receive a free dish of ice cream.

Spooky season is here! The Haunted House at the Kemper Center opens tonight with “Kiddie Tours” (lights on) from 6 to 7 p.m. After 7, the lights go out and it gets scarier. The Haunted House is open from 6-10pm on five Saturdays (October 1-29). Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children (ages 10 and up). Tickets are sold at the box office. New this year: Kiddie Tours offer trick-or-treating for kids. The entrance to the haunted house is in the Faulkner Building at the back (east side) of the Kemper Center, 6501 Third Ave. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase while you wait to enter the haunted house.
The YMCA Fall Festival is from 10 am to 10 pm at the Kenosha YMCA, 7101 53rd St. The festival features live music, food trucks, a Kiwanis beer tent (noon to 9 p.m.), a family bag tournament, bounce houses and a fun run. Community vendor booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. At 11 a.m., the Miracle League Showcase game will take place at Miracle Field. Music includes Stu the Piano Guy (12:30 to 2:30 p.m.), Ivy Ford (3:30 to 4:30 p.m.), Boys & Toys (5 to 7 p.m.) and Renegade Wildflower (7:30 to 9 p.m. :30).
Rustic Road Brewing Company hosts the new Lakeside Oktoberfest outdoor festival. installed at Celebration Place in Downtown’a HarborPark. Open today from 11 a.m. to midnight (and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Characteristics of today’s music Kai Anderson from noon to 1 p.m., Spare animals from 1 to 3 in the afternoon, Ben Mulwana from 4 to 7 in the afternoon and coal crane from 19.30 to 22.30 h. There will also be potluck contests (starting at 3 p.m.) and food vendors. Entry is free.
