1 DEAD, 3 INJURED IN A CRASH – A Fort Worth man was killed in a crash on Farm Road 51 North Wednesday morning. Roosevelt King Jr., 51, died at the scene of the crash on FM 51 near County Road 2825. King was a passenger in a 2010 Toyota Prius, which was driven by Gloria Alvarado, 32. from Fort Worth. The Toyota was southbound shortly before 11 a.m. on FM 51. “The Toyota failed to observe a no-passing zone and attempted to pass a tractor-trailer hauling a trailer on a hill,” said Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ricky Hunter. “As the Toyota passed the tractor-trailer, a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck went northbound up the hill.” Hunter said the two vehicles collided in the northbound lane. “The Toyota suffered serious damage and a passenger [King] was ejected from the vehicle,” Hunter said. Alvarado was taken to Wise Health System with undisclosed injuries. The driver of the Dodge, Ronnie Walker, 75, and his passenger, Linda Walker, 71, both of Desdemona, were airlifted to Medical City of Denton with undisclosed injuries.

THE GREAT RETURNS TO THE BRAVE – Decatur native Bryce Elder allowed one run on four hits in a no-decision start over 5 2/3 innings for the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday in a 3-2 loss to the Washington Nationals. He finished with six strikeouts and two walks. In eight major league appearances this year, Elder is 1-3 with a 3.38 ERA, with 36 strikeouts and 21 walks. As of Thursday morning, Elder remained on the Braves’ roster.
ALVORD BOIL NOTICE LIFTED — Alvord City Council received lab results yesterday that showed water samples were clear, allowing the city to lift the boil water advisory that had been in effect since a leak of water in the city last Wednesday.
MOBILE FOOD SUPPLY — U-Turn World Ministries will host a mobile food pantry from the Tarrant Area Food Bank today from 2-5pm at the church, 306 N. Texas 101, in Chico. A mobile food truck will deliver food to the location and distribute it at a drive-thru.
