RENEWED BURNING BAN – Wise County’s weather-based burn ban remains in place as the region transitions from summer to fall. On the recommendation of Fire Marshal Jeff Doughty, Wise County commissioners on Monday renewed the burn ban on red flag warning and high risk or wildfire days, according to the Weather Service office Fort Worth National, for another 90 days. “It’s drying out and we’re seeing some fires, but it’s not like it was in the summer,” Doughty said. “At any time, if it gets worse, we can enact a total burn ban.” In the latest drought monitor released Thursday by the USDA, most of Wise County is in moderate drought. The southern third of the county is in a severe drought. Read more in the Wednesday Wise County Messenger.
WRECK DETAILS PUBLISHED – The Texas Department of Public Safety has released more information about a wreck north of Decatur on Monday. The two-vehicle crash happened on FM 51 near CR 2224. DPS Sgt.
