The 47th annual Vermilion River Fall Festival this past weekend featured the popular return of live music on Friday nights, along with good weekend weather to draw the crowds.
Danville Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr. was returning from a conference in Chicago when it all started Friday night. But when we caught up with him Saturday at the Christ Oberheim Memorial Softball Game at Danville Stadium, he was very happy with how everything went with Friday night’s live music session.
AUDIO: There were a lot of people, everyone had a great time; so it’s something we’ll continue, and hopefully even expand on in the future.
As Saturday’s session came to a close, with many children enjoying the pony rides, Danville Community Relations Manager Ashton Greer admitted she was tired, but very happy with everything.
AUDIO: The crowds were huge and we have more food trucks this year than last year. We have eight trucks and then three additional food vendors. So there are 11 in total, which is way more than we had last year. We have playground games, ponies, bounce houses; I feel that the crowds are very large; very stable today.
