Halloween events kick off the spooky season this weekend


Communities plan trick-or-treating, parades, other events

The Sandusky County Convention and Visitors Bureau has released a list of trick-or-treating times for communities throughout the county, plus area communities have released dates and times for Halloween parades, contests and other fall fun.

Trick-or-Treat cities and times are:

● Bellevue, from 5 to 7 p.m. October 29;

● Clyde, 5.30pm to 6.30pm October 29;

● Fremont, October 4 to 6:30 p.m.;

● Gibsonburg, October 5 to 7:30 p.m.;

● Green Springs, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. October;

● Lindsey, 4:30 to 6 p.m., Oct. 30;

● Woodville, 6 to 8 p.m., October 31.

Harvest Happenings kicks off Halloween fun across the county

On Saturday, October 15, Harvest Happenings is the theme of the Farmers Market in downtown Fremont, which will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event is free.

The Haunted Hydro will host a costume contest for adults and children in The Strand Theater and Backstage Lounge at 10am with a new category every 30 minutes. Prizes will be awarded. In addition to a variety of vendors, there will be live entertainment, treats and activities for all ages. Restaurants and other food vendors will be open.

For kids, keep an eye out for orange balloons at the market and downtown businesses. The balloon marks where youngsters can Trick or Treat from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Youth can also stop by the Downtown Fremont Tent at the intersection of Front and Garrison and pick up a coloring sheet. Then paint it and return to 315 Garrison by October 21 to enter a contest to win a $20, $15 or $10 Think Fremont Community Card.

Copper Festival Halloween – Copper Top Bakery, 114 N. Sandusky St., Bellevue, is hosting an annual festival from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 16. There will be Trunk or Treat, games, vendors, treats, pictures and a costume contest. To participate call 567-214-4200.

Trunk-or-Treat at the Rec The Fremont Rec Center, 600 St. Joseph St., hosts Trunk or Treat from 2-4pm on October 22nd. The public is welcome. There will be bounce houses, games, costume contests, ice skating and more. The free event is wwlcomes dresses for kids. For more information, visit: www.fremontohio.org.

Woodville’s Fright Night—Woodville Business and Community Association, hosts Fright Night on Main Street, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 and is free. A FrankenChili Dinner will be held from 4-6:30pm in the WUMC Fellowship Hall. Trick-or-Treat at businesses will be from 6 to 7:30 pm There will be a food drive for the Woodville Food Pantry. Bellevue Halloween Parade — The annual Halloween parade will be at 6:00 p.m. on October 27. The parade forms at 5:30 pm in Central Park on North Street and winds its way to the Railroad Museum. The event is sponsored by Bellevue Emerging Leaders.

Ghost Stories in Spiegel Grove — The Rutherford B. Hayes Museums and Library in Spiegel Grove will host lantern tours of the dark woods on October 28. Tours depart every 10 minutes from 7 to 9 p.m., with the last tour at 9 p.m. Enjoy popcorn, cider and hot chocolate by the campfire before and after the tour, which will stop at various points in Spiegel Grove and the Hayes Home. Take a photo in the spirit photo booth. Tickets are $15 for non-members and $10 for members. Tickets are available below. visit rbhayes.org for more information.

Clyde’s Halloween Parade and more At 4pm on the 29th October, join the annual Halloween parade down the main street in the center of Clyde. There will be Trick-or-Treat immediately after. Before the parade, visit Clyde’s Candy Land, presented by Grace Bags 6:26, at Railroad Square from noon to 3 p.m. There will be food trucks, vendors, a car show, candy and prizes, and a bounce house. Court and parade of green spring costumes — On Oct. 30, Green Springs will have a costume court at 4:30 p.m. at the fire station on Catherine Street, followed by the parade at 5 p.m. through downtown. Immediately after the parade at the fire station there will be a distribution of costumes, candy, cider and doughnuts. The event is free for all participants.
