Likewise, the 4th of July weekend is upon us.
Choose from new and old Independence Day celebrations, the nation’s largest bounce house, or a Theater in the Park production of “School of Rock – The Musical.”
Friday, July 1
4 – 9 in the afternoon Pop Ups with a purpose is pulling towards Space for outreach events, 112 W. 18th St., at the crossroads of First Fridays. Supported by the Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair, Friday’s pop-up will focus on the “makers and shakers” of Outreach International, a global non-profit dedicated to supporting local community groups and leaders to develop solutions on problems related to poverty.
6 – 9 in the afternoon Kenny Chesney returns to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday, but the party officially starts Friday night at PBR Big Sky inside KC Live! in Power & Light111 E. 13th St. This is where the Kenny Chesney Sirius XM Shoeless Radio Party will set up and serve signature cocktails, hand out awards, broadcast live interviews and more before Saturday night’s show. There is no cover.
Saturday July 2
9 a.m Thrillist called it “The Taj Mahal of Bounce Houses,” and it’s coming to Kansas City. The Big Bounce America is in town, bringing four massive bounce houses and all kinds of fun Wallace Park in Belton, Missouri, 16400 N. Mullen Road. Celebrate the long weekend with fun and interactive games at the Guinness World Record-certified America’s Largest Bounce House, plus confetti explosions, live entertainment giveaways and more. Three-hour bounce sessions just for toddlers, youth, seniors and adults are available online; ticket prices vary. Big Bounce America is in Belton July 1-3.
3 in the afternoon Kansas City’s Largest Fireworks Party and Independence Day Celebration will be held on the day National Museum of the First World War and memorial site, 2 Memorial Drive, Saturday. the new Stars and Stripes Picnic will feature food, local vendors, entertainment and, of course, fireworks. Free and open to the public, the picnic begins at 3:00 p.m. and ends after the fireworks, which are scheduled to go off around 9:40 p.m.

8:30 p.m Reserve your spot for Saturday night “School of Rock – The Musical” performance on stage Shawnee Mission Park, 7710 Renner Road. Theater in the Park’s production of the musical based on the 2003 film will feature a talented cast of young rock stars playing new music arranged by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Tickets for adults are $10, tickets for youth (4-10) are $6. Parking and reserved seating are available online in advance.
Sunday July 3
3 in the afternoon It’s an all-star weekend with the Kansas City Monarchs a Field of legends1800 Village West Pkwy., and Sunday America’s Bash the stadium has something for everyone. Arrive early for pre-game beer tastings, food trucks, bounce houses, bouncy ball, prizes and more, including a chance to play catch on the field. After the Monarchs take on the Gary SouthShore Railcats, there is a postgame concert featuring American Idol winner David Cook and Casi Joy. Family packs of four are available for $49. Be sure to check online for more ticket options.
6 in the afternoon One of the best fireworks displays in the region is scheduled for Sunday night, just to the south Bishop Miege Institute, 5041 Reinhardt Drive. Attendees have the option to arrive early to enjoy a three-city celebration The Old Fashioned Mission Picnic, around the corner from where the fireworks display takes place. Alternatively, guests may bring snacks and their own facility. There will also be concessions. A picnic for two can be reserved for $30. The fireworks will start between 21.00 and 21.30
Monday, July 4
9 am – noon For everyone who wants to celebrate early and enjoy a night in the air conditioning, Deanna Rose13800 Switzer Road, plans to We celebrate the 4th at the Farm. In addition to the usual attractions, the children’s farm will celebrate Independence Day morning with old-fashioned games and activities, a bike parade and more for just $3.
3 – 10:30 p.m The Independence Day at Celebration Park in Gardner, Kansas, 32501 W .159th St., should be a blast, especially for country music lovers. The all-day festival will feature musical performances by Niko, After Midtown and Blane Howard, plus plenty of food, inflatables, games and a huge firework display as the cherry on top. The Independence Day Festival is free.
8 am – 10 pm Parkville knows how to do Independence Day. Celebration of the 4th of July, 8701 McAfee St., is full of activities, from the pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m., to the Falcon Skydiving exhibit and fireworks show after the sun goes down. The schedule also includes a parade down Main Street, festival food, face painting and more. The best part? The Parkville party is free. Be sure to check online for a full rundown of events.
