MEN OF FAITH: The Trumbull County Men of Faith will meet at 9 a.m. today at 3217 Surrey Road, Warren. The guest speaker is Mark Engelsdorfer, field coordinator for the Youngstown Franklin Graham 2022 God Loves You Tour. The tour will arrive in Youngstown on September 27th. He is working with area pastors and church leaders to prepare for the event.

MEDICINE WHEEL: The Freedom Unity Spiritual Center will host a Medicine Wheel ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, The ceremony will be facilitated by Kimberly Ford and takes place after the service from 11 in the morning. The medicine wheel is a sacred circle of stones to be gathered in a ceremony to cleanse, make offerings and bless. For information call 330-539-0122.

SOCIAL BLOCK: Divine Trinity Temple Pentecostal Ministries, 500 Vine Ave. NE, Warren, will be hosting a 3-in-1 Blog Social on August 20 at 6:00 p.m. The event will include a school supply giveaway, distribution of pre-filled lunch boxes and free hot food, along with an outdoor fun party. There will be cold drinks, homemade ice cream, bounce houses for youngsters, water games, face painting, contests and prizes.

CHURCH EVENT: West Mecca Bible Methodist Church, 1215 Greenville Road NE, is hosting a community yard sale today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help build a parsonage so the church can hire a pastor at full time The church’s previous pastor, the Rev. Michael Shiery, died in October of complications from COVID-19. Speakers have filled the pulpit until the church can hire a full-time pastor. In the meantime, the congregation plans to build a house for the pastoral family.

MUSIC MUSIC: First Congregational Church will host a musical jam and ice cream social from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 at Wayne City Hall, Route 322. The event is sponsored by the church’s missionary society.

SUMMER EVENT: The Parish of Saints Peter and Paul and the Pastoral Center of Saint Stephen of Hungary will host a summer picnic from noon to 6 pm on August 21 at the Strossmayer Croatation Center, Vienna. Outdoor Mass will be at 11 a.m. Bring your own chair. Entertainment is the Mickey Dee Band from 2-5pm Open to the public $5 adults and children under 12 free.

GAME NIGHT: The Unity Spiritual Centre, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, Liberty, will hold a game night at 7pm on the third Tuesday of each month. There will be board games, retro video games, cards and puzzles.

GOLDEN WONDERS: The Mighty Golden Wonders will perform a 5pm concert on August 21st at St,. John’s Ministries Church of God in Christ, 419 Highland Ave. SW., Warren.

APPOINTMENT: Bishop David Bonnar of the Diocese of Youngstown has appointed the Rev. Donald King as interim president of Stark County Catholic Schools. The appointment took effect July 1, and King has been meeting with stakeholders throughout the summer.

King retired in August 2019 as pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Canton, where he had served since 2010. He also previously served as pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Warren. His other assignments include time as associate pastor of parishes in Stark County.

King is a Stark County native and attended St. Benedict and Central Catholic in Canton. He has served on Catholic school boards in both Stark and Trumbull counties.

As interim president of Stark County Catholic Schools, King leads Canton Central Catholic High School and St. Thomas Aquinas of Louisville, with the responsibility of identifying each school’s strengths and opportunities.
