While almost everything we read in our lives these days can be accessed electronically, there’s still something to be said for the old-school way: printing by hand. Whether it’s a magazine, newspaper or brochure, there’s just something about holding the paper and turning the page. If you’re a book lover, check out this unique Northern California festival that’s a book lover’s dream come true!
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Great Valley Bookfest is a fun and festive environment that brings book lovers and authors together.
Bookfest will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley in Manteca, CA, about a 20 minute drive south of the city of Stockton.
Designed to celebrate the fun of reading, Bookfest, which is free to the public, attracts people of all ages and walks of life.
Whether you enjoy fiction, non-fiction, science fiction, romance, poetry, or other genres of writing, you’ll find it here.
Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy a wide range of activities, including author presentations, musical performances and more.
It’s a lot of fun to walk around the many author booths. Some people are looking for their favorites, while others are finding some great new finds. Together, they help develop a love of reading and foster a sense of wonder and possibility, no matter your age.
In addition to reading the books, attendees will have the opportunity to shop from a wide range of vendor booths offering all kinds of arts and crafts.
A colorful parade, exciting workshops, engaging cooking demonstrations by well-known cookbook authors, interesting seminars and gourmet food and beverage stalls are also part of this annual celebration.
The costumed characters will wander around the Bookfest grounds.
Magicians will offer balloon sculptures and amazing magic throughout the day. In the Children’s Zone, the little ones can enjoy bounce houses, dance and martial arts, demonstrations and balloon sculptures, just to name a few exciting activities.
It’s always a thrill to have your new book signed by the author.
While you’re here, take the opportunity to pepper the authors with tons of questions: how they got started, the process of writing a book, publishing…they’re always eager to answer!
