Woodbine is gearing up for the 33rd annual Applefest scheduled for this weekend | recreation


Woodbine will hold its 33rd annual Applefest on the city streets on Saturday.

The activities will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except in the entertainment tent. Bands will be playing live music at the Tommy Gate Band Stand from 4pm until late, and the Good Fellows Beer Garden will be open from noon until 11pm.

The event will feature a craft and car show, as always, along with cakes and other food. The craft show will be held from 8 am. at 4 p.m. in the school gym, according to a flyer. An outdoor market will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fifth Street between Ely and Weare. The downtown car and bike show will feature a horn contest at 2pm and awards at 4pm at Sixth Street and Walker. A tractor show will be held on Walker between Fourth and Fifth streets.

A Kids Korner will be set up at Fifth Street and Lincolnway with bounce houses and activities organized by the Building Blocks Academy. The Merry Brook Schoolhouse will be open at Zell Millard History Park and model trains will be running.

A food court will be established at Fourth Street and Lincolnway. The Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. at the school, according to the flyer. The Christian Church will serve a chicken noodle dinner at 11 a.m. at Sixth Street and Ely. Cake and ice cream will be available at Faith Family Church on Fifth Street near the library. Sagrado Cor will offer candy apples at the entrance of the school. Hodge Greenhouse, Morris Family Orchard and Kuhn’s Amish Baked Pies will have stops on Lincolnway.

New this year will be a hay bale toss in the amphitheater hosted by The CREW Center. Registration will begin at noon, and the contest will follow at 1:00 p.m. The competition is open to everyone aged 8 and over. Prizes and T-shirts will be awarded.

Patrick Conrad will perform at 4pm on the Tommy Gate Band Stand, followed by Fork in the Road at 7.
