Spooky season is right around the corner again, and that means everyone’s favorite spooky attractions are back in action.
If you’re looking for your next thrill, or even just a fall holiday event to get into the spirit, the Tampa Bay area is an ideal destination.
With dozens of scary options, here are some of the best Halloween adventures in or around St. Petersburg.

Saint Petersburg Fire Rescue Haunted Firehouse
Hosted by the St. Petersburg Fire Department, this event turns a firehouse into a haunted house, with costumed firefighters popping out of every corner with scares. While the haunted house is meant for big fright fans, the free event has a bounce house and treats for the whole family.

Explore a 60,000-square-foot cargo ship as you flee a possessed cult bent on using you as a sacrifice. This spooky attraction takes place aboard The American Victory Ship, an authentic World War II ship now converted into a floating history museum.

The city of Saint Petersburg has transformed a beautiful nature reserve into the field of your nightmares. For three nights only, be prepared to explore the pitch-black desert as terrifying ghouls emerge from every corner.

A hidden gem of stalls, admission to Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail covers three different immersive experiences: Headless, Final Cut and Rapture of the Deep. If you’re too scared to explore the gruesome scenes, don’t worry, Sir Henry’s also offers laser tag and escape rooms at an additional cost.

With five houses, seven different scare zones and plenty of scary shows, Howl-O-Scream is a beloved Halloween tradition in the Tampa Bay area. And if you need a breather, Busch Gardens has plenty of its best rides open at night, as long as you don’t mind the zombie clowns sitting next to you in the bumper cars.

If you’re looking for some of the most intense thrills Florida has to offer, Scream-A-Geddon is more than happy to deliver. As a seasonal theme park dedicated only to scares, this attraction boasts five different spine-tingling experiences, as well as the chance to play a game of “Zombie Paintball.” If that’s not scary enough, adult visitors can “tag” themselves, giving the fear actors permission to get up close and personal.

Family fun
ZooTampa invites ghouls of all ages to a night of spooky fun and animal adventures. Guests can meet their favorite storybook villains, dance with creepy creatures and enjoy some howling shows. Wildlife connections are set up throughout the park to allow visitors the opportunity to meet the beloved critters in person.

St. Petersburg’s Halloween-themed street party returns for a second year with 22 downtown blocks dedicated to the spooky festivities. No cars are allowed for this day of trick-or-treating, dance parties and food trucks, so put on your best costumes and get ready for some family fun.
