The Liberal Chamber of Commerce celebrated the 2022 Duck Festival at Light Park on Saturday. There was food, fun and partying all day culminating in the “Duck Race” at 2:00pm.
Activities throughout the day included the Seward County Chili, Soup, Tacos and Desserts, Cook Off, Ducky Downs, Trike Races, Bounce houses, Booths and more.
Duck race winners, top eight and “Hard Luck Duck” duck were: Stew Cauble 1st winning $5000 Matt Graham 2nd $2000 Jose Rios 3rd $1000 Kathy Pugh 4th , 500 $, Amy Wright, 5th $ 400, Rubén Pérez 6th, $ 300, Tina Vargas 7th $ 200 and Marlene Aquino 8th per 100 $. Lucky Duck chosen belonged to Amy Butler and was good for $ 500.
In the Chili, Soup, Taco and Dessert Competition sponsored by Seward County United Way, Crosspoint Church took 1st place, Crossroads took 2nd, with LHeat placing 3rd in the Chili competition.
As for tacos, Sunflower Elementary finished 1st and Meadowlark Elementary was second.
In the dessert contest, Blanca was 1st, sunflower in 2nd, and Meadowlark in 3rd.
The choice of people in the chili contest was in Crosspoint Church.
