DEXTER, Maine (WABI) – RE-MAX Infinity partnered with Holden non-profit Sarah’s House for a Scramble Sunday golf fundraiser.
The second annual event also featured tethered hot air balloon rides, bounce houses and crushed ice.
Sarah’s House of Maine provides a temporary “home away from home” for cancer patients and their caregivers to stay during treatments.
The house was created by the family of Sarah Robinson almost eight years ago, after her death from cancer.
As a lifelong Dexter native and realtor, the location and partnerships for Sunday’s fundraiser were a natural fit for Sarah’s cause.
“So Sarah was only 24 years old when she was diagnosed with brain cancer, she was from the Dexter area,” Sarah’s House Executive Director Delores Landry said.
“When I was on treatment at Cancer Care I met a lot of people who would travel hundreds of miles every day for a 15-minute-and-a-half-hour treatment, then turn around and drive home…and people would give up on treatment because it was too much expensive or too heavy for them … this was really something I wanted to do before I died.”
