Dust off your dirndls, put on your tights and lace up your dancing shoes! It’s time to take part in the 19th Annual Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest, September 16-17.

Each year, more than 10,000 attendees head to the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, 225 Edward St., Chippewa Falls, for a weekend of live music, family-friendly entertainment and a variety of of authentic German cuisine.

Don’t miss the announcement of this year’s Oktoberfest Festmeister and Festmeisterin at Leinenkugel Brewery at noon on Friday, September 16. Festival-goers will then be able to join the parade at the fairgrounds for the taping of our new Festmeister’s official Gold Barrel and Prost.

Tasha Weiss, director of programs for the Chippewa Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, says, “It’s always great to see families and friends come together to celebrate the Chippewa Valley’s German heritage.”

With a variety of live entertainment from polka to rock and roll, and our very own Glockenspiel show, there will be something to enjoy. This family-friendly event also includes face painting, art activities, bounce houses, demonstrations, contests and more.

Check out the Chippewa Falls Oktoberfest Facebook page September 12-15 for clues to the 4th Annual Oktoberfest Medallion Hunt. “The medallion hunt is a great way to learn about the Chippewa Valley’s German heritage,” Weiss said, “while competing with your neighbors for bragging rights and free entry to this year’s event.”
