Do you need school supplies for your family? The next two weeks will feature a series of back-to-school supplies for those in need.
The city of St. Cloud is hosting a Back 2 School Bash on Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to noon at Hopkins Park (6320 E. 17th St.). This free and fun event will feature exhibitors, games, bounce houses and more. Register your child to receive a backpack full of school supplies (one per child). at https://bit.ly/3aYI33C. Families can also sign up for the fourth annual Back2School celebration at Staples Square on 13th Street on August 6 at 11:00am. This event is presented by A Hero for Kids, so if your kids are lucky, they could meet Batman!
Last year’s event saw nearly 400 families register for free backpacks and supplies, and A Hero for Kids gave away more than 1,000 backpacks full of supplies. Enrollment is limited. To register, go to cc/3yMDQYy.

The Department of Parks and Recreation of the City of St. Cloud is collecting school supplies for those in need. Items needed include 1- to 3-inch notebooks, pencils, pencil pouches, crayons/crayons, dry erase markers, glue sticks, composition books, 3-hole punched folders, and paper loose-leaf notebook. If you are able to donate, drop off your donations at St. Cloud Civic Center, 3001 17th St., before Aug. 1. For more information, call 407-957-7243.
The March to your own history of St. Cloud Main Street will wrap up its summer of reading on Saturday. Each week, the children have been collecting a map at the police substation in St. Cloud of the 10th street that took them for a walk through the center of St. Cloud. The map took them to specific locations to look at the store windows of participating merchants, reading one page at a time until they completed the week’s story.
For this last Saturday, the book is “A Pony, a Pig and 2 Ducks” by Kristi M. Lambert. Lambert will give away free books to the first 20 children who come to the Z and Q – A Children’s Store at 1037 New York Avenue from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Each child can take a photo with the author. Z and QA Children’s Boutique will have a special treat for the kids. Plus, there’s a kid’s costume contest — have your child dress up as their favorite book character.
