This was a very close call.
A North Carolina mother posted a video on Facebook showing a bounce house being released into the wind and blowing across the family’s backyard. The large, inflatable object almost crashed into a small child nearby.
Fortunately, the empty bouncy house only grazed him and no serious injuries were reported, according to Beane’s post.
Jennifer Beane shared the footage on March 20 after it was recorded by a home security camera. Beane wrote on Facebook that she had rented the bounce house for her son’s second birthday party.
“I debated sharing this, but decided it had to be shared,” Beane wrote. “This Saturday (March 19), we had Maddux’s 2nd birthday party. We have a bounce house like we usually do for older kids.”
He explained that one of the children had been riding a four-wheeler before his battery died. The boy then picked up a basketball from the yard and started walking toward the house. That’s when the bounce house fell apart.
Beane did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

“You see him in the video as he heard the bounce house strap break so he was looking to see what it was,” he wrote. “Then the scariest thing happens and the wind picks him up and comes straight for him. We had just (walked) inside and Cooper saw it in the air from inside and called us, and we all came outside.”
After the footage shows the bounce house landing on the grass, adults can be seen running towards the object to make sure there were no children inside.
The post continued: “Thank the good lord they were all safe. Michael said he hit his head and back but ran away from him. It could have been much, much worse. Please if you have a bounce house, be sure to keep an eye on how strong the wind will be.”
Beane concluded: “We just wanted to share what happened. We’re all still shaken up by it and Michael says we can’t have any more bounce houses in the future!”
Fox News previously reported that the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said bounce houses should be properly staked and anchored to a flat, even surface. If it’s windy outside, people shouldn’t use a bounce house. When using a bounce house, the maximum wind speed should not exceed 15 to 25 mph, the CPSC confirmed on Fox News.
