NEWPORT, Maine (WABI) – Newport held its fifth annual Riverwalk Festival on Saturday.
Activities included a parade, pony rides, water slide, talent show, bounce houses and more.
Several clubs also set up booths to attract new members, including the GFWC Newport Woman’s Club, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
Cooper Flagg and the Nokomis boys’ basketball team were also in attendance, wearing orange wristbands in support of teammate Aidan Anderson, who recently began his fight against leukemia.
“I just want to send some good wishes to one of my friends,” Flagg said. “He was recently diagnosed with leukemia. So we’re wearing these little orange bands just in support of him and just hoping for the best wishes for him.”
“His name was Aiden Anderson. We all love Aiden so much. He’s a hardworking kid. Like he’s really kind. We’d like to be around. And we just tried to think of something we could do to support.”
Also, proceeds from Saturday’s lemonade stand will go towards Aidan’s fight.
