NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion’s home football opener against Virginia Tech tonight was sold out.
The Monarchs and Hokies open their season at 7pm at SB Ballard Stadium in a game that will be televised by ESPNU.
The game marks the debut of Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry, who was the defensive coordinator at Penn State when ODU head coach Ricky Rahne was the offensive coordinator.
The trunk lots open at 15.00 and the doors at 17.00, half an hour earlier than usual.
The capacity of SB Ballard Stadium is 21,944 seats.
There will be entertainment and food at the Kaufman Mall, just across 49th Street south of the stadium, starting at 3 p.m. There will be food vendors, a beer garden and bounce houses and plenty of room for the kids to run around.
There will also be a giant screen TV showing the best college football available. At 3:45 p.m., the Finns, a rock/country band from North Carolina, perform near the entrance to the Webb Student Center.
The football team holds its Monarch March starting at 4:45 p.m., when players and coaches leave the front of the Webb Center and walk to SB Ballard Stadium. The band and cheerleaders will also perform at 6:10 pm in front of the Webb Center.
