This Saturday the nonprofit, Packages for Warriors, will host a Ride for the Deployed and Festivities at Heritage Park in Junction City. This will be a family friendly event with music, patriotic rubber ducks throughout the park for kids to find from 8am to 2pm and then prizes will be awarded. There is no fee to participate in the duck hunt. There will also be two bounce houses on site.
The festivities will also include registration for the Ride portion of the event from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. At 8:45 there will be a formal flag raising provided by American Legion Post #45.
Lineup for the ride will then begin with a suggested donation of $20. Vendors will be on site until 5pm
Packages for Warriors sends care packages to deployed service members from all branches of the military. They offer year-round free shipping on average flat rate packages starting in 2018 at Box N Ship, 112 N. Washington.
