PIERCETON – Those heading to the Pierceton Days festival this weekend can enjoy “Christmas in July.”
This is the theme of the festival scheduled for Friday 29 July and Saturday 30 July. Festival organizer Alicia Mediano said the theme was chosen in connection with the city’s Christmas decorating volunteer committee “Christmas in Pierceton: Untangled.”
“This group has raised significant funds to help make Pierceton a destination during the holiday season,” he said. “We are excited to celebrate their efforts and highlight the need for support.”
“We all love the holidays because of the focus we put on bringing families together, and our approach to the Pierceton Days Festival is just that…a family festival,” he added. “We want you to be able to bring your kids and never worry about their safety while their hearts are overwhelmed with…fun!”
Mediano noted that the festival has many free activities, including children’s activities on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. These include face painting, caricatures, balloon animals and more.
“This year again we will be offering bounce houses throughout the park that are only $5 a day to enjoy with a wristband all day,” he said.
New this year is a vintage motorcycle, boat and RV show in downtown Pierceton from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday.
“With no entry fee, we encourage all those who are proud of their product to come show to show their efforts to preserve these items,” Mediano said. “We’ll also be giving away a ‘People’s Choice’ in each category, so we encourage the public to come and vote for their favourite!”
Another new activity is the ax throwing at Brower Park, which will take place on Friday and Saturday. People can pay $10 to throw an ax 10 times, which includes typical axes, the ones that stick from the suction cup, and axes.
Mediano noted that the Pierceton Fire Department will host its annual cornhole tournament on Saturday, as well as its 50/50 raffle over the weekend.

Friday July 29
3:00 p.m. — Car and Truck Show (registration at McHatton-Sadler; alley awards at 8:00 p.m.)
3:00 p.m. — We open the bounce houses and vendors
6:30 p.m. — KC Dance Company (clogger dance company performance) — On the main stage
8-10pm — Brian Koser (playing a mix of country and rock) — On the main stage
Saturday 30 July
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Show of vintage motorcycles, boats and motorhomes
9:00 a.m. — Pierceton Fire Department cornhole tournament
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. — Kids’ events (caricatures, face painting, balloon artists and the Big Wheel Contest)
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. — Touch a Truck Event (hosted by local police, fire and EMS departments)
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Petting zoo
3 pm — Christmas Parade in July
6 pm — Pierceton Fire Department 50/50 Raffle
6 pm — Band: Andy and Shelly (duo playing classics) — On the main stage
